DESIGNED FROM AN ARCHIVE

Matcha's story began more than 800 years ago, when the Japanese monk Eisai returned from China with tea seeds and methods of preparing powdered green tea. It later became central to the Japanese tea ceremony, where every movement from whisking to serving, is performed with intention and care.

Centuries later, matcha has taken on a life far beyond the tea room. It's become a fixture in cafรฉs from Tokyo to Los Angeles, Seoul to London, creating new rituals and communities while carrying centuries of Japanese tradition into everyday life.
