Antique silver naturally oxidises over time when exposed to oxygen, forming a darkened surface known as patina. This gradual oxidation is what gives vintage and archival silver its depth, contrast, and character.

Each MAABAE piece is intentionally finished using a specialised oxidizer ion process after plating to create this vintage-inspired darkened finish. This process enhances the shadows and textures of the design and gives every piece its antique look. Your jewellery will continue to oxidise naturally over time.
