Antique silver naturally oxidises over time when exposed to oxygen, forming a darkened surface known as patina. This gradual oxidation is what gives vintage and archival silver its depth, contrast, and character.

Each MAABAE piece is intentionally finished using a specialised oxidizer ion process after plating to create this vintage-inspired darkened finish. This process enhances the shadows and textures of the design and gives every piece its antique look. Your jewellery will continue to oxidise naturally over time.

Our design language is rooted in this idea. Inspired by the heritage of archival silver and reimagining it through a modern lens for today’s wardrobe. I’ve always been drawn to the history held in old-world jewelry - its weight, its patina, its soul.
